Description of the training:

The training focuses on the intersections of architecture and community development, highlighting the importance of people's participation throughout the housing process. Recurring themes of tenure security, affordability and incremental development will be explored based on the experiences of grassroots organizations in co-implementing housing projects that target low-income households in key urban areas in the Philippines.

Objectives

The activity aims to:
  1. Contextualize the need for community participation and environmental consciousness in Philippine housing.
  2. Share some of the challenges, innovations and lessons learned in implementing community-driven housing projects.
  3. Provide a discussion and advocacy platform on making housing in the Philippines more sustainable and responsive to the needs of the society and the environment.

Expected Outcomes/Outputs

  1. Participants with enhanced knowledge, skills and values on integrating participatory approaches to housing projects and programs.
  2. A network of advocates with shared social responsibility of co-creating communities that are safe, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.
